Reverend Father Herbert Ene arrived Saint Mary Catholic Church on November 3, 2017 as the Pastor of Saint Mary Catholic Church Camden and Holy Family Catholic Mission Huntingdon. We are very happy to have him as our Pastor.
Father Ene is a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu, Nigeria. He was ordained in August 2, 1997 having completed his Bachelor of Philosophy and Bachelor of Theology degrees in 1992 and 1997 respectively. He also received his Post Graduate Diploma in Education at the Imo State University Owerri, Nigeria.
Father Herbert served his home Diocese in various capacities. He served as Assistant Director of Catholic Institute for Development, Justice and Peace (CIDJAP), as Pastor of St. Anthony Catholic Church at Ogui New Layout Enugu and as chaplain/pastor of Saint Mulumba Catholic Chaplaincy at the University of Nigeria Enugu Campus (UNEC).
Since his arrival at the Catholic Diocese of Memphis in West Tennessee in 2004, he has served as Associate Pastor of Holy Cross Church in Paris, Tennessee, Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Memphis, Saint Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Memphis. Father Ene served as Archivist in the Diocesan Archives Office at the Catholic Center. While in resident at the Blessed Sacrament Church, he served as a full time Chaplain at Saint Benedict at Auburndale High School in Cordova. He also served as a Sacramental Minister at Saint Augustine Catholic Church and Holy Names Catholic Church in Memphis. Prior to his appointment as the Pastor of Saint Mary Catholic Church Camden and Holy Family Catholic Mission Huntingdon, he was the parochial Vicar of Saint Louis Catholic Church in Memphis.
Father Herbert believes in the saying that “knowledge is power.” Consequently, his quest for knowledge led him to Christian Brothers University in Memphis to obtain a Master of Education and, then to the University of Memphis for a Doctorate in Educational Leadership.
We the parishioners of Saint Mary Catholic Church Camden and Holy Family Catholic Mission Huntingdon are extremely excited to have him as our new Pastor. Father Ene is an aficionado of soccer, music and tourism. He is well-known for his friendly greeting: “God is good! All the time!”
